This Orton Gillingham/Multisensory approach to fractions class will allow teachers to teach fractions in a transparent concrete way to student in elementary and middle school. This one-day course is only available to people who have completed the two-day introductory course with me. This course is offered annually in Alabama, but this is the first time it has been offered in Georgia since 2013.

AOGPE Certified Level Coursework

This is a dynamic offering of modules focused on deepening a teacher's knowledge of the student profile.  How many times have you received a full psychological profile from a family and not understood how to translate the information to your classroom?  Do you struggle to plan lessons for students with more complex profiles?  Do you hesitate to say yes to older students?  There is a module here for you! All modules can be taken as stand alone courses with the exception of Days 2&3.  Each module will count as 5 hours of Academy Accredited work at the Certified Level.

Day 1 (Jan 21) - Getting started with new students

Day 2 & 3 (Jan 28 & Feb 11)- Understanding the Psychological Profile

Day 4 (Mar 18) - Lesson Planning

Day 5 (Apr 22) - Understanding the components of the Student Profile, Intake and Discharge Summaries, and Designing Appropriate Interventions

Reading Comprehension Workshop

Comprehension is more than just knowing what you read.  It requires skills along the language continuum to construct and compose meaning.  Students then need to actively demonstrate that meaning through their writing.  This class will break down these skills and examine the areas where dyslexic readers may struggle including skills such as main idea, drawing conclusions and making inferences. This course is co-taught with Josephine Calamari, M.ED AOGPE-FIT and supervised by Rosalie Davis, and it will count towards AOGPE coursework hours at the Certified Level.

Introduction to Morphology

This course will discuss the instruction of Anglo-Saxon affixes along with basic Latin roots and affixes.  We will also explore the impact of suffixes on pronunciation, meaning, and usage.  Attendees will be provided with tools and instructional procedures for teaching morphology to students in lower and upper elementary grades in both one-on-one and group settings.  This course is supervised by Rosalie Davis and will count as 12 hours towards AOGPE required coursework at the Certified Level.
