About Jennings...

Jennings is a Fellow in the Orton Gillingham Academy (OGA).  She trains teachers in the Orton Gillingham Approach and creates dynamic trainings for classroom teachers in the Science of Reading.  You can learn more about the Orton Gillingham Approach and Academy accredited teachers, trainers, and tutors at www.ortonacademy.org.

Jennings’s mentorship and practicum offerings are focused on dynamic professional growth in small collaborative communities. A one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t work for kids or adults. Accreditation is one path, but Jennings works with individuals to determine the right path for each human at this moment in their personal journey towards becoming the best therapist s/he/they can be.

After graduating from Vanderbilt with a Masters in Special Education in 2005, Jennings worked for ten years as a classroom teacher working with children with special needs including students with cognitive delay, autism, dyslexia, behavioral disorders, and language disorders.  She has worked at The Marcus Autism Center and The Schenck School.

In her private dyslexia therapy practice, Jennings works with students ages 5-18 of all abilities to develop reading, math, written expression, and language skills.  She has also coached students with language- based learning disabilities who are preparing for the ACT/SAT.

Jennings volunteered her time with The International Dyslexia Association-Georgia Branch, serving as the chair for the Dyslexia Dash from 2013-2016. She is the 2018 recipient of the IDA-GA Outstanding Service Award.

As a teacher trainer, Jennings leads workshops and Academy accredited trainings in the traditional Orton Gillingham approach to reading and writing.  In Atlanta, she has worked as a Literacy Trainer for Reading is Essential for All People, REAP, a non profit that works to raise funds and provide trainings, mentorship, and practicum experiences for public school teachers.  Jennings also leads workshops focused on Orton-Gillingham based Multi-Sensory Math and extending traditional reading and language instruction to reach a diverse population. She also offers prescriptively tailored trainings for various unique learning communities.

Jennings has presented on various topics at Orton-Gillingham Academy Annual Conferences, Georgia Independent Schools Association Conference, and the International Dyslexia Association Southern Regional Conferences.

In 2021, she authored the series Fat Sam and Friends, a decodable chapter book series to help inspire a love of story among resistant readers. She has also authored The Alphabet King, an engaging story to teach the basic syllable types.

As of July 2021, Jennings is the Fellow of Record for Training and Instruction at Greengate at The Randolph School, an OGA accredited school in Huntsville, Alabama. At Greengate, she oversees therapists and develops curriculum to help reinforce the science of reading throughout the school day for a neurodiverse population.

Jennings is also trained in RAVE-O and Lindamood-Bell Visualizing and Verbalizing.

In her spare time, Jennings enjoys yoga and spending time with her tribe of pets at her home in Decatur, Georgia.
